Marine Superintendent
Job Overview:
As a Marine Superintendent specializing in technical ship management, you will be responsible for
overseeing the maintenance, operation, and compliance of various marine vessels, including ships, tugs,
barges, floating cranes, and transhippers. This role demands extensive knowledge of marine engineering,
safety standards, and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure
the efficient and safe operation of the fleet under your supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fleet Oversight: Manage the technical aspects of a diverse fleet of marine vessels, ensuring their safe and efficient operation.
2. Maintenance Planning: Develop comprehensive maintenance plans and schedules for each vessel
to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
3. Technical Expertise: Apply your knowledge of marine engineering to assess vessel stability,
propulsion systems, structural integrity, and other critical technical aspects.
4. Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with maritime regulations, class society rules, and industry
standards. Ensure that all vessels under your purview adhere to these requirements.
5. Risk Management: Identify and assess potential technical risks associated with vessel operations.
Develop and implement mitigation strategies to prevent accidents and breakdowns.
6. Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular inspections and audits of vessels to ensure they meet
safety and operational standards. Address any non-compliance issues promptly.
7. Budget Management: Monitor and manage the budget for vessel maintenance and repairs,
optimizing costs while maintaining safety and performance standards.
8. Crew Training: Collaborate with training departments to ensure crew members receive adequate
training in technical operations, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
9. Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation, records, and reports for each vessel.
Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory authorities as required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field; Chief
Engineer experience
• Extensive knowledge of marine vessel technical operations, including propulsion, machinery, and
electrical systems.
• Familiarity with marine PMS software
• Communication and leadership abilities.
• In-depth understanding of maritime rules and regulations.
